Gua Sha

Gua Sha is an ancient TCM healing method that uses a smooth-edged tool to apply pressure, stroke, and scrape (“gua”) the skin. Gua sha massage is traditionally a full-body modality used to enhance circulation of Qi energy, reduce stagnation and consequent tension. Similarly, to myofascial release, it helps to treat fascia, tight muscles, and muscle pain by applying pressure to stretch and relax tissue. This type of tool-assisted massage provides a vigorous scrape effect and some experience transient bruise-like marks of the skin known as “sha” or “petechiae”. This effect promotes an anti-inflammatory and immune response to improve circulation.

Facial Gua Sha as a beautifying technique may improve the look and feel of skin, relieve tension in facial muscles, boost blood circulation, stimulate skin cell rejuvenation, promote collagen production, and encourage lymphatic drainage to reduce puffiness and inflammation. Unlike Gua Sha of the body, this treatment is much gentler as the musculature of the face is much thinner and thus it should not result in any discolouration of skin. The gentle, intentional movement of this facial massage may result in a more lifted, toned and sculpted youthful appearance.

Please Note : Detox symptoms may persist after treatment as toxins are quickly released from the body. We recommend seeing a licenced TCM practitioner for the use of Gua Sha for all medical-related concerns. If you have any health concerns, consult your doctor before trying a new treatment. Ayurvedic Marma Point Face Massage

Ancient Ayurveda believes that the mind has the power to heal and transform the whole body. As the seat for prana energy and sense organs (sound, sight, smell etc.), the head and facial regions are of great importance. The effect of facial massage is far-reaching – nourishing internal organs. By massaging facial marma points we can activate a relaxation response to reduce cortisol (stress hormone) levels and elicit an immediate pranic charge to stimulate a healing process. Other benefits may include detoxification from improved lymphatic function, better skin quality, reduced signs of aging, reduced pain, and enhanced overall feelings of revitalization.
